One Day Seminar on Synodality: A Way of being Church
There was conducted a one-day seminar on 31st January, 2022 on the topic Synodality: A Way of being Church by the Paurastya Vidyāpīṭham. The seminar was started at 9.00 am in the seminary auditorium. Rev. Dr. Johnson Neelanirappel, the dean of the Faculty of Philosophy welcomed all to the seminar.
Rev. Dr. Andrews Mekkattukunnel, the president of the Paurastya Vidyāpīṭham inaugurated the seminar with an introductory talk. Rev. Dr. Pauly Maniyattu moderated the first session and it was started at 9.30 am. Rev. Dr. Varghese Kochuparambil presented the first paper on Synodal Church: Theological Development in the Perspective of Pope Francis. Each session had a thirty-minute presentation which was then followed by a fifteen-minute discussion. Rev. Dr. Dominic Muriyankavunkal presented the second paper on Papal Primacy, Infallibility and Collegiality of Bishops. The second session was stared at 11.15 am after a tea break.
The session was moderated by Rev. Dr. Mathew Kochadampallil. There were three short paper presentations in the session. Rev. Sr. Della CMC presented the first paper on Synodality in the Early Church. Rev. Fr. Roby Thalachelloor presented the second paper on Yogam and Synodality: A Comparison. The third paper was presented by Rev. Bro. Joseph Pannivizha on Church as Communion and Synodality. Rev. Dr. Sebastian Chalackal presented the third major paper on the topic Synodal Church: Communion, Participation and Mission.
After the lunch break there was a group discussion among the participants which was then followed by the concluding session. Rev. Dr. Thomas Kuzhuppil moderated the concluding session in which the leaders from the corresponding groups presented their report. Rev. Bro. Anoop Kocheril thanked all and the seminar ended with the Paurasthya Vidyāpīṭham anthem.
